As we move forward into a new chapter for SisterWeb, we want to take a breath and acknowledge this significant moment with all of you: the families we serve, our partners, and those who contribute to our sustainability.
Effective July 1st, SisterWeb embarked on a new organizational model with a Co-Executive Directorship by Marlee-I Mystic and Alli Cuentos. This change is inspired by successful models from other programs and represents a fresh era of rehabilitation, fortification, and a renewed focus on our core values. We understand that true community transformation, particularly in dismantling the legacy of racism in healthcare, is a challenging journey, but together we are prepared to meet this challenge.
Marlee-I and Alli will share the role of Executive Director, bringing their unique perspectives and skills to this out-of-the-box model. Marlee-I, a San Francisco Native and one of the first doulas with Kindred Birth Companions, will focus on our Community Doula Program and Community Partnerships. Alli, a SisterWeb Co-Founder with a rich background in doula work, education, and community organizing, will concentrate on Evaluations and Development. Expect from us deep listening, authenticity, excellent organizational skills, and, of course, a killer soundtrack!
Many of you have seen the recent letter sent out by our beloved Co-Founder and former Executive Director, Marna Armstead. As she shifts into a new chapter of her career, we pause to give deep thanks for her leap of faith, relentless dedication, and courage to steer our organization for our first five years. We can’t begin to express our appreciation for the thoughtful stewardship and coaching Marna has invested in SisterWeb and in each of us. We are so glad Marna will continue to be part of the SisterWeb as a member of our Advisory Committee.
